About Deacon & Deaconess Ministry
At Grace Mesa, the Deacon and Deaconess Ministry exists to embody the love and mercy of Christ through tangible acts of service. Rooted in the pattern of Acts 6, deacons and deaconesses are called to meet practical needs within the body of Christ so that the ministry of the Word and prayer may flourish without distraction. Far from being simply logistical helpers, they are spiritual leaders who reflect Christ’s servant heart in how they care for the church family.
Deacons are men of deep integrity and spiritual maturity, as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:8–13. They are dignified, self-controlled, sincere in faith, and faithful in their relationships and responsibilities. They model a life of faith that is grounded in truth and expressed through love.
Deaconesses likewise serve with spiritual maturity, compassion, and humility. They provide vital care and support within the church body, often ministering to women and families in sensitive and personal ways. Their lives reflect a Christlike character and a willingness to serve wherever God calls them.
Together, deacons and deaconesses come alongside those who are hurting, vulnerable, or in need, offering presence, prayer, and practical help. Whether it’s visiting the sick or shut-in, delivering meals, providing support to grieving families, or responding to unexpected needs within the church body, they serve as the hands and feet of Christ. They are often the first to notice when someone is struggling, and the first to respond, not out of obligation, but out of Spirit-filled compassion.
This ministry is not about tasks; it’s about people. Deacons and deaconesses carry the burdens of others (Galatians 6:2), show hospitality (1 Peter 4:9–10), and help cultivate unity and peace within the church. Their service strengthens the body, encourages the weary, and protects the dignity of those in need. They serve not in the background, but at the heart of the church’s mission, demonstrating that the gospel transforms not only what we believe, but how we love.

Psalm 100:1-5
“Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth. Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the LORD Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the LORD is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting And His faithfulness to all generations.”

Upcoming Deaconess Events and Studies
Welcome to the heart of Grace Church’s women’s ministry—the Deaconesses! We’re a group of dedicated women who find joy in serving others, lifting spirits, and creating meaningful connections within our church family. If you’re wondering what we do, here’s a little glimpse into our mission (and our fun!)
Communion Care – We prayerfully prepare the communion table each month, making sure it’s ready for a precious time of reflection with our Lord.
Leading Ladies in Faith – From inspiring Ladies’ Bible Studies to hosting special women’s events (like our elegant High Tea), we cultivate a space for growth, fellowship, and encouragement.
Caring for Our Church Family – Through our HELPS Ministry, each deaconess reaches out to members, offering support in times of need—whether it’s a prayer, a warm meal, or a comforting visit.
Honoring Life’s Moments – We lovingly plan and serve at memorial service receptions, making sure families feel cared for during difficult times.
Prayer Blankets & Personal Touches – With every hand-made prayer blanket, we wrap someone in the love and prayers of our church.
Above all, we serve where needed—supporting our elders and stepping in wherever God calls us. Being a deaconess isn’t just about responsibilities; it’s about building a community of faith, love, and service.
