About Deaconess Ministry
Welcome to the heart of Grace Church’s women’s ministry—the Deaconesses! We’re a group of dedicated women who find joy in serving others, lifting spirits, and creating meaningful connections within our church family. If you’re wondering what we do, here’s a little glimpse into our mission (and our fun!):
🌿 Communion Care – We prayerfully prepare the communion table each month, making sure it’s ready for a precious time of reflection with our Lord.
📖 Leading Ladies in Faith – From inspiring Ladies’ Bible Studies to hosting special women’s events (like our elegant High Tea), we cultivate a space for growth, fellowship, and encouragement.
❤️ Caring for Our Church Family – Through our HELPS Ministry, each deaconess reaches out to members, offering support in times of need—whether it’s a prayer, a warm meal, or a comforting visit.
🕊️ Honoring Life’s Moments – We lovingly plan and serve at memorial service receptions, making sure families feel cared for during difficult times.
✂️ Prayer Blankets & Personal Touches – With every hand-made prayer blanket, we wrap someone in the love and prayers of our church.
Above all, we serve where needed—supporting our elders and stepping in wherever God calls us. Being a deaconess isn’t just about responsibilities; it’s about building a community of faith, love, and service.

We invite you to serve with us! We are always welcoming new helpers. If you want to learn more about becoming a deaconess, joining us as a helper is a great place to start. You are eligible to become an elected deaconess if you are member of Grace Church.

Serving, Sharing & Celebrating – Recent Highlights
Dessert Potluck- December 22, 2024
Providing a great reason to spend some fellowship time together during the busy Christmas season. We sure enjoyed some wonderful foods! Thanks to everyone who brought a dish to share.
Virtual Prayer Journey, September 24, 2024
Diana Lawrence, founder of Arizona Reservation Ministries, took us through a virtual prayer journey, stepping us through the daily lives of many whose lives are difficult on the San Carlos Reservation. We prayed for them all. We saw how ARM provides hope through ministering to the needs of these residents and how lives are changed.
Stand With Israel - March 24, 2024
Deaconesses took up a collection for the Chabad Jewish Center of Gilbert and presented our offering to them that week.
Mother's Day Tea - May 11, 2024
We welcomed our guest speaker, Jess Carey, to share her story and speak to us on what God’s word says about guilt and shame and healing. Volunteers brought their fine table settings and tea sets to decorate a table. Food was provided by the deaconesses and others. What a time of fellowship and fun!
OCC Packing Party - November 16, 2024
All hands were on deck for this annual event at Grace. Packing shoeboxes for the Operation Christmas Child ministry makes everyone hungry! Deaconesses provided a delicious respite to the hard work. Thanks Deaconesses! We love you OCC!
